Why I started Above & Beyond Home Health & Rehab

When I became a nurse more than thirty years ago, I never imagined where this journey would lead. I simply knew one thing—I wanted to care for people.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of walking alongside patients and families during some of the most joyful moments and some of the most difficult. I've celebrated recoveries, comforted grieving families, prayed with patients, and witnessed incredible strength in people facing life's greatest challenges.
Those experiences shaped not only the nurse I became, but the leader I strive to be every day.
Years ago, God placed it on my heart to start BeyondFaith Hospice. It was born from a desire to provide compassionate end-of-life care that honored every patient's dignity while surrounding families with support, comfort, and hope.
As BeyondFaith Hospice continued to grow, something else became increasingly clear.
Many families needed us long before hospice was ever appropriate.
I met patients recovering from surgery who simply needed skilled nursing and therapy to regain their strength. I met seniors who desperately wanted to remain independent but needed a little extra help to do so safely. I met caregivers who felt overwhelmed trying to balance work, family, and the responsibility of caring for someone they loved.
Time and again, I found myself wishing there was a way to help people earlier in their healthcare journey.
That desire became Above & Beyond Home Health & Rehab.
Our mission has always been simple: help people recover, regain independence, and continue living safely where they are most comfortable—at home.
Home isn't just a place. It's where memories are made. It's where grandchildren visit after school. It's where favorite chairs, family photos, pets, and lifelong routines provide comfort. Healing often happens best when people are surrounded by the things and people they love most.
That's why our team brings skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and compassionate support directly into our patients' homes. We don't just focus on diagnoses—we focus on helping people regain confidence, improve their quality of life, and reach their personal goals.
One of the greatest blessings of leading both BeyondFaith Hospice and Above & Beyond Home Health & Rehab is seeing the full continuum of care. While each organization serves patients with different needs, they share the same foundation.
Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity. Every family deserves compassion. Every person deserves to be heard.
Healthcare has changed dramatically over the years, but those principles never have.
As I begin writing The Heart Behind the Care, my hope is that these monthly conversations become more than just articles.
I hope they become a trusted resource for families navigating healthcare decisions. I hope they offer encouragement to caregivers who may feel exhausted or uncertain. I hope they answer questions, clear up misconceptions, and provide practical information that helps people make informed decisions about their health.
Most of all, I hope these reflections remind you that behind every diagnosis is a person with hopes, fears, and dreams. That's who we care for every day.
Thank you for allowing our team to be part of your journey.
Whether you're recovering from an illness, helping a loved one heal, or simply planning for the future, we're honored to walk beside you.
Because caring for people has never simply been my profession. It's my calling.
Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey.
